Our Story

About the Bunkhouse

Owned and run by the Devon Spelæological Society. Purpose-built for outdoor groups on Dartmoor.

South Dartmoor Bunkhouse sits on Crest Hill in Buckfastleigh, on the southern edge of Dartmoor National Park. It has been providing accommodation for outdoor groups for many years, run by the Devon Spelæological Society (DSS) — a local caving club.

The building is designed for the practical needs of outdoor groups: drying room, gear storage for bikes and kayaks, a fully-equipped communal kitchen, and solid wooden bunks. As a member of Independent Hostels UK, the bunkhouse meets established standards for group accommodation.
